Young pupils expressed delight and excitement at the launch of their new outdoor play facility at Haworth Primary School.
The £9,750 tyre park was formally unveiled at the start of term, with the help of Disney characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Parents were also on hand at the opening to see the tyre park, which was put in place during the last week of the summer holidays.
Haworth Primary head teacher Helen Thompson said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the installation, which will have a significant impact on our outdoor provision. The children are currently designing a wide range of creative games to use. The winning design for the installation was by one of our former year six pupils – Luke Jarvis. We are very grateful to the Big Lottery for funding the project.”
She added that the launch had been extremely successful, with youngsters given their first chance to see and play on the equipment, which is located directly outside the school building.
“The pupils absolutely love the tyre park and they had a fantastic time playing on it,” she said. “It was a really positive way to start the term. We’d been wanting to have fixed playground equipment for a long time.”
