There is bingo on Tuesdays at the Dickie Bird now starting at 8.30pm, a quiz and Strike It Lucky on Wednesdays from 9pm. A free supper at both events.

The local art group meets on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1.30-3.30pm in Long Lee and Thwaites Brow Village Hall. There are places for beginners or people with experience. For details, contact Barbara on (01535) 669914.

On Sunday there will be services at St Barnabas’ Parish Church at 8am, holy communion and at 9.15am, parish communion. At Long Lee Methodist Chapel there will be a service of holy communion led by the Rev Nigel Ogley at 10.30am.

This Saturday, the final game of the season Long Lee Cricket Clubs 2nd team will play Airedale 2nds away. At Golden View the 1st team will be playing Cowling.

Long Lee Cricket Clubs annual awards presentation dinner will be held at Bradford and Bingley RU Club, Waggon Lane, Bingley, on Saturday October 19 at 7pm. Tickets are £20. And can be obtained from club members.

Tickets are now available for the Airedale Male Voice Choir concert at Long Lee Chapel on Saturday, September 28. Tickets are £5, available from chapel members.

Keighley/Thwaites Brow Townswomen’s Guild had a coffee morning in Long Lee Methodist Chapel on Saturday, there were stalls tombola, bring and buy, bric a brac and a raffle. Proceeds were shared between Manorlands and the Guild.

On Friday, September 27 Margaret Anstey will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning in St Barnabas’ Church Hall from 9am-noon. There will be bring and buy and a raffle.

The new season of meetings of Keighley Men’s Forum at Keighley Playhouse will commence on Thursday, October 3 at 10am.

Next Wednesday the Out and About walking group will be led by Myra on a walk in the Wycoller area. Meet at Keighley bus station to catch the No 25 bus at 10.15am.

Next Tuesday Long Lee Methodist Chapel’s Women’s Welcome Hour will meet there at 2pm. The speaker will be the Rev Jennifer Lunn.

The holy communion service on Sunday at Long Lee Methodist Church was celebrated by the Rev Nigel Ogley. The Rev Canon Bruce Grainger was the celebrant at the said holy communion service at St Barnabas’ Parish Church and spoke about our dealings with others being grounded and built on love and service. The Rev Dr Jonathan Pritchard was the celebrant at the later sung parish communion and preached on each one of us is important and as God searches and cares for us, so we should do the same for others. Readers were Margaret Anstey and Helen Salt who also led the intercessions. Jill Dodsworth administered the chalice and Billy Clayton accompanied the service at the piano.
