Glowing tribute has been paid to a Denholme teenager killed in an horrific crash.
Jade Best, 19, was a back-seat passenger in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, which went out-of-control and ploughed into a hairdressing salon in Thornton, Bradford. She and two friends died at the scene of the incident.
The family of Jade (pictured), of Clapham Street, who it was revealed had beaten cancer, said she had a lovely personality.
In a statement issued through West Yorkshire Police, they said: “Jade was a happy go-lucky person, and had a lovely outgoing personality that meant she embraced life to its fullest.
“She had recently been given the all-clear following a cancer diagnosis, and had so much life left to live. We are devastated by her death and that she has been taken from us in such tragic circumstances.”
Denholme residents have been left shocked by the death of Jade and another villager, 27-year-old father-of-two Jonathan Adam Ruthven, of Longhouse Drive, who was driving the vehicle.
Denholme Town Council chairman, Councillor Steven Nunn, said: “There will be two absolutely devastated families in the village.
“Once these families are ready, I’m sure the whole of Denholme will come out to support them. The entire community has been really affected by this.”
The third person to die in the incident, which happened on September 16, was 32-year-old dad-of-one Daniel Hague, a front-seat passenger in the car.
Mr Hague, a serving soldier, of Hill Top Road in Thornton, was on compassionate leave to see his desperately-ill mum in hospital.
The lance corporal had been due to return to his Lancashire-based unit the day before the crash. But his devastated sister, Emma Hague, 25, said he had at the last minute managed to extend his leave after their mother’s health worsened, leaving her needing surgery.
“He was outgoing,” said Emma. “He loved life. He was a typical man with a big passion for the army, girls and cars. He was a ladies’ man, but everybody loved him. Daniel had an 11-year-old son to an ex. He has been told about his dad.”
She added: “He served all over – Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany. He saw enough horrors, but still got on with living his life.”
She said her brother had spent time at his mother’s side on the day of the crash before catching up with old friends in the Denholme area.
