Visitors to Haworth yesterday could have been forgiven for thinking it was the height of summer.
The Worth Valley Horticultural Society held its flower and vegetable show in the village’s community centre, and there were more than 200 exhibits on display.
It was the second year of the competition, and organisers say it seems to be gaining in popularity as more people hear about it.
The show was introduced to create a way for growers to exhibit the flowers and veg that don’t bloom until after the usual summer show season, such as chrysanthemums and dahlias.
There were 24 exhibitors at yesterday’s show.
Spokesman Mike Cunningham said: “The standard of the entries was A1, all the judges commented on the high standard.”
He estimates that at least 250 people visited.
