Airedale Hospital is opening up its new state-of-the-art endoscopy unit to the public.
People are being offered a tour of the facilities on Saturday.
Specialist nurses will also be on hand at the 10am to 4pm event to offer information and advice, and youngsters will have the chance to dress up in gowns and masks!
The £2.4 million unit – which took its first patients in July – will be officially opened at 11am by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Keighley councillor Khadim Hussain, and retired surgeon Archie McAdam, who helped start the hospital’s endoscopy services.
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust chief executive, Bridget Fletcher, said: “We really hope lots of people come along to the event, including families and children.
“Everything is interactive, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for people to find out more about the unit while they’re relaxed and not worried, as many people are when they come in for a procedure.”
People are also being asked to support a £60,000 appeal to buy new endoscopy equipment, including a video processor that helps to diagnose patients more quickly and provides a clearer image for clinicians.
