A veteran Yorkshire cricket fan has completed an unbeaten century.

Mother-of-three Sally Milner (pictured, left), of Nessfield Drive in Keighley, celebrated her 100th birthday at a party with friends and family held at Branshaw Golf Club.

She said: “I really haven’t got used to the idea of being 100 yet – I feel like they’ve got the wrong woman!”

Mrs Milner is Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s oldest female member, and has travelled all over the country to watch them play. She recently had tea with one of the county’s cricketing legends, Geoffrey Boycott.

“I’m a Yorkshire lass – it wouldn’t do to support anyone else,” she added.

She was born as Sarah Lilley in Keighley (she now goes by the name of Sally), and worked as a spinner in different local mills for more than 50 years after she left school at 14.

She married painter and decorator, Les Horner, in 1936, who died in 1963. She has two daughters – Irene and Elaine – and a son, also called Les.

Mrs Milner also has six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.

Irene said her mother had loved going on holiday, and especially enjoyed many trips to St Ives in Cornwall. She has also been a keen bingo player at the Engineers’ Club in Russell Street.
