This week’s public meeting regarding the future of Keighley’s main post office provided the sort of rhetoric you would expect from such a gathering. This was the first opportunity in open debate for town residents to hear ‘from the horse’s mouth’ about the plans to seek a retail partner, and to give their views. Those in the audience voiced their fears anything other than the post office remaining in its present Towngate location would lead to access problems and a deterioration in service. Post Office Ltd has pledged that if no suitable partner is found, the Crown branch will remain. But you cannot help but wonder decisions have already been made behind closed doors.
