A group of Bradley pub-goers have got into the spirit of the occasion by stripping off to pose for a fundraising calendar.

Landlord, Phil Cook, and regulars at the Slaters Arms are among 21 men, aged from 23 to 82, who are featured in a variety of naked poses for a soon-to-released calendar, which will raise money for men’s health charity Movember.

The men have been avid fundraisers for Movember after Cowling man, Jim Thompson, 61, a regular at the Slaters Arms, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2010.

Phil said Jim’s two sons, Michael and James, and his son-in-law came down from the Newcastle area to take part in the calendar photo shoot in July.

A launch night will be held in the pub at 7pm on October 14.

Phil added 500 calendars will be printed initially, but many people had already indicated they want to order several so they can send them to friends and family living in places as far away as the USA and Canada.

“I think this calendar could go global,” said Phil. “We’re hoping to raise more than £5,000 for Movember.”

The men raised £4,000 for the charity last year and £7,500 in 2011.

Anyone who would like to donate to Movember on behalf of Jim can visit uk.movember.com and the ‘team’ called Geordie Jim’s Boys.
