A Riddlesden mother whose young daughter died of blood poisoning has raised £110 for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
Andrea Walker hosted a stall in Keighley’s Airedale Shopping Centre to raise both money and awareness of the dangers of meningitis.
Andrea, 46, of Bar Lane, who is a Keighley town councillor, lost her three-year-old daughter, Ellie, to blood poisoning in January this year. She has embarked on the information and fundraising campaign with support from friend, Andrea Steel, who was Ellie’s godmother.
Mrs Walker said she was amazed how many people’s families had been affected by meningitis.
She added: “I’m going to carry on with the campaign – it’s Ellie’s legacy.
“This is just the start. Were hoping next year to branch out and do more things.”
