Supporters of a mobile soup kitchen that operates in Keighley have hit new heights to raise about £5,500... with a sponsored climb up Mount Snowdon.
A group of 18 people from Keighley, including eight UAK students, took part in the successful ascent. They were among 34 walkers who were trekking to help the Intouch Foundation, which serves hot meals and drinks once a week in Keighley, as well as in Bradford and Shipley.
All 34 had made it to the summit in four hours on Saturday.
Showfield resident, Khurm Mezhar, 22, the Keighley co-ordinator for Intouch Foundation, said: “The weather was beautiful – a bit cold on the top, but that was to be expected.”
Fellow Intouch organiser, Faisal Tariq, said: “It was a brilliant day and one to remember. This climb really made me appreciate the simple things in life we take for granted, and gave me time to reflect on those individuals who have nothing.”
Intouch Foundation’s Keighley branch serves food and drinks to homeless and deprived people in Church Green each Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm.
