Environmental activists are submitting grant bids for three schemes on neighbouring land between Braithwaite and the North Beck.
Keighley West Environmental Partner-ship wants to provide play facilities, improve a footpath and showcase the valley’s history.
The group, involving councillors, organisations and residents, received updates on the project at its meeting on Monday.
The partnership has already applied for a Military Covenant grant to repair the ‘cat steps’ connecting Braithwaite with Fell Lane at the other side of the North Beck.
The aim is for Keighley sea, air and army cadets to learn skills by constructing the steps, with a memorial to be erected in honour of local veterans.
The partnership is ready to apply for a Heritage Lottery Fund Young Roots grant to explore the history of the valley, from the Industrial Revolution to the 1940s when residents still kept livestock.
Partnership members also hope to build a skate park or BMX track on the valley side, known as the Tip Top by Braithwaite residents, and improve the adjacent playground.
