A young Keighley coffee bar employee’s hard work and dedication has been rewarded with a surprise party.

Colleagues of David Meyrick at Coffee Love, in Keighley Market Hall, secretly organised the event. He has been a part-time member of staff with the business for nearly four years, but has now left to begin a course in business management at York University.

Louisa Rollins, who runs Coffee Love with her business partner, Joanna Greenwood, said: “We threw the party for him on Saturday after hours.

“Some of our regular customers came along to say goodbye to David. The customers have seen him grow up and mature during the past four years – he’s been really committed and hard working so we wanted to give him a nice send-off.”

David, 18, lives in Utley and is a former Holy Family Catholic School student.

Joanna said: “We had customers, friends and family come along to the party – it was a good turnout. David was absolutely gobsmacked – really surprised.

“He started working here on the day we first opened, and he’s been a fantastic member of staff.”
