Two Bradford Council-owned adventure centres in the Dales used by Keighley schools will soon be run by a specially-formed charitable trust.
Buckden House, in Upper Wharfedale and Ingleborough Hall in Clapham are used by schools across Bradford district for residential stays and day trips.
But the centres – which offer activities like rock climbing, caving and orienteering – have suffered dwindling visitor numbers and currently run at a loss.
Headteachers were also keen to have more of a say in their running, so a trust is being set up to take on their management. Bradford Council will continue to own both properties.
Councillor Ralph Berry, executive member for young people, said the future looked bright for the “amazing centres”.
