Major improvements are planned at the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth.
The ticket desk at the entrance to the literary shrine could be moved further inside.
And other proposals include the provision of touch-screen information facilities, in the foyer and exhibition room.
Ann Dinsdale, collections manager at the parsonage, said: “The ticket desk is right at the front door, so people have to queue outside and the weather is not always great! Also, there is only space for one person to man the desk.
“The idea is to move it into the foyer area, which will enable people to wait inside, and it will mean that at busy times, we can have more than one person issuing tickets.
“We are consistently trying to find new ways of improving the visitor experience, and this is part of that.
“It is also planned to restore, and improve the appearance of, the entrance area.”
The ticket desk has been at its current location since the parsonage – one-time home to the Bronte family – opened as a museum in 1928.
Mrs Dinsdale added if the plans are approved by Bradford Council, it is hoped to carry out the work in January when the museum is closed to the public.
