Keighley residents are anticipating a “wonderful experience” with the visit of Le Tour next year.
The town will be the second district venue to welcome cyclists after they have raced through Silsden.
They will be riding along Skipton Road and North Street.
Keighley mayor, Councillor Sally Walker, said: “It’s excellent for the town and for the whole area.
“I think it’ll be a wonderful, lovely experience.
“We won’t have seen an event of this size before, and for a short while Keighley will be in the middle of it. Even now I don’t think people have grasped its full extent.”
Coun Walker added: “Just as there is with a marathon, there will be a tremendous amount of organisation needed for something that will pass through quite quickly.
“There will be disruption for anyone who thinks they can easily come in and out of the town on that day, but people are going to be warned in advance.”
