With reference to ‘The Worth Valley Champion’, a Tory newsletter I saw recently.

I find the latest claims by Councillor Glen Miller and co even more outrageous than usual. Apparently, they have saved Tree Tops Children’s Centre and the toilets in Haworth Park. I was under the impression this was a Labour group consultation on how to manage the savage cuts by the Tory government, and the people of Haworth had their say.

The representations made by the people of Haworth to the Labour councillors were well made and well received. Therefore, the decision to keep these facilities open was made by Labour councillors after a meaningful consultation in the Worth Valley.

So, well done the residents of the Worth Valley, well done to the Labour group for listening and acting.

Shame on you Councillor Miller and co for trying to take the credit from the people of the Worth Valley. Even more shameful, it is your government that has cut billions of pounds from local government and left councils across the country struggling to provide services.

And, yes, this means children’s centres, toilets, fire stations, mobile libraries and who knows what next will be under threat.
