The Mpika relief charity is asking people to join its annual sponsored walk in the Denholme area.

The 8.75-mile trek will set off from the Mpika charity shop in the village at 10am on May 17.

Proceeds will pay for a container of goods to support the Mpika Village of Hope children’s home and orphanage in Zambia.

The Mpika Relief Fund was set up by Denholme resident June Martin to help a village hit by drought, and went on to develop the Village of Hope.

The charity is seeking both walkers and sponsors. E-mail her at mpikarelief@yahoo.co.uk or visit mpika.org for information about the charity’s work.
