A 22 year old Eastburn man had bags of cannabis hidden in his boxer shorts when he was searched, magistrates heard.

Adam Sean Holdsworth was the passenger in a car stopped by police in Wheatlands Lane, Cross Hills, on December 30, Skipton Magistrates heard on Friday.

Officers, who smelt cannabis in the car, made a fruitless search of the driver, and took Holdsworth to Skipton police station because he was reluctant to be searched, the court was told.

At the station, he was found to have two small bags of the class B drug in his underwear. In addition, a search of his home, in Acer Close, Eastburn, while he was at the station, uncovered 1.558 milligrams of cocaine.

Together, the drugs had a combined value of £190.

Holdsworth, who admitted possession of the drugs, told the court that he did use cannabis, but only socially and that he was not an addict. He added that the cocaine had been bought specially to celebrate New Year.

He was fined £200 with costs of £85 and victims surcharge of £20. A forfeiture and destruction order was made on the drugs.
