AN AIREDALE Hospital shop is being given a £60,000 facelift.
The refurbishment will include new flooring and an expansion.
The ground-floor shop – at the main entrance to the hospital – will be closed for the duration of the work, which began last week and is scheduled for completion by the end of next month.
Funding is being provided by the Friends of Airedale, whose volunteers run the facility, with a contribution from Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
Friends' chairman Eileen Proud said: "We are really looking forward to the completion of this refurbishment so that our shop is back to normal in time for Christmas."
David Moss, assistant director for estates and facilities at the trust, said: "The aim is to help improve the environment for our patients, their families and our staff.
"We apologise for the disruption and any short-term inconvenience whilst this work is carried out and will be directing our visitors to alternative facilities in outpatients, the on-site restaurant and the various vending machines around the hospital."
The outpatients' shop is open weekdays from 8am to 4pm.
The trust’s restaurant is open from 7.30am to 6pm weekdays and until 3pm at weekends.
