A GROUP of fundraisers have donated £5,000 to the stroke ward at Airedale Hospital.
The women, who are all close family, have spent the past 12 months raising money to split between the stroke unit at the hospital and Manorlands Hospice.
Lisa Balderstone, said “Our uncle was cared for at Airedale Hospital and we wanted to give something back to the ward. It was a real team effort with pretty much the whole family helping out in one way or another - everyone did what they could to help.
“We started just hoping to raise a couple of hundred pounds but were amazed by the support we received so went on to arrange more events.”
The family have organised lots of different fundraisers over the year including an afternoon tea which took place last October, a ‘Sparkle for Hope’ ball which a hundred people attended in February and more recently a race night in June, bringing the total amount raised to £10,202.38.
Linda Lawrence, sister on Ward 5 at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said “On behalf of everyone on the ward I would like to thank the extended Ibbotson family for their extremely generous donation. The money will be used to help patients with their rehabilitation.”
