THE spirit of Christmas will be invited into Haworth this weekend, with the formal start of the village's season of festive activities and entertainment.
Youngsters will be in fairy costume in Main Street this Saturday (Nov 29) for a parade up the street. This will begin at the bottom of Main Street with participants due to gather from 2pm for a 2.30pm start.
Christmas events organiser and Main Street trader Mike Hutchinson said more people in appropriate fairy tale themed costumes were welcome to come and join in the parade.
He added that the village's traditional, annual Scroggling the Holly procession would be taking place this Sunday. (Nov 30)
It will feature children dressed in Victorian-style clothes who will escort this year's young Holly Queen to the steps of the parish church for her crowning ceremony. The spirit of Christmas will then be officially invited into Haworth.
Mr Hutchinson said he would be unavailable this year to lead the parade, but his place is being taken by Haworth resident Martin Nutter.
