JONNY Mitchell – star of hit Channel 4 series Educating Yorkshire - has visited a Keighley school to hand over a coveted award.
He called at Phoenix Special School to present a national accolade won last summer.
The Friends of Phoenix were victorious in the community links category of the PTA-UK Gold Star Awards.
The group has received a £1,000 cheque, in addition to £500 each finalist earned.
The award, sponsored by Liberty Mutual Insurance Ltd, was in recognition of the Friends' work engaging with the community.
Jason Patefield, community support co-ordinator at the school, said: "It was fantastic that Jonny Mitchell came to Phoenix to present our award.
"The whole building was buzzing. The kids loved meeting him and he visited every class and spoke to all the children."
Judges said a stay-and-play scheme launched at the school by the Friends, offering holiday activities to youngsters, had proved hugely successful.
