ROY Hattersley is to launch Labour's Keighley election campaign.
The party's former deputy leader will be in the town on March 30 – the day Parliament is dissolved for the general election – to get campaigning under way.
He will address a public meeting at Central Hall, Alice Street, starting at 7pm.
Keighley candidate John Grogan said: "Roy is one of the legends of the Labour party and was a loyal and effective deputy to Neil Kinnock.
"He served as a senior minister in both the Wilson and Callaghan governments and although he was an MP in Birmingham for 33 years, he never lost his Yorkshire roots.
"The great theme of his political life and extensive writing has been equality of opportunity – an idea which will certainly be of relevance in the 2015 election."
Admission to the meeting is free.
