UNCERTAINTY surrounds the future of an established business in the centre of Haworth.
The Bronte Weaving Shed – which is part of Edinburgh Woollen Mill – has had closing down sale signs in its windows for several months.
However, when the Keighley News contacted the firm's head office about the signs, no one was prepared to comment.
Staff at the actual store also did not want to comment when contacted.
Haworth Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council chairman, Councillor John Huxley, said the closing down signs could have been up for as long as six months.
"At the moment, no one seems to know what is going on," he added. "The Edinburgh Woollen Mill is a key retail outlet in the village, but they have not told us what is going on. We're in the dark.
"The closing down signs are even fading a bit, they've been up for so long. It does seem a bizarre way to be trading."
The store is in Townend Mill, North Street, opposite the Changegate Car Park. It includes a customer coffee shop and stocks items such as outdoor clothing, knitwear, food, gifts and souvenirs.
The business was involved with supporting Fairtrade Fortnight in Haworth last year, with staff staging a tropical party to promote the ethical sale of fruit fruit and other goods.
