BURGLARS targeted two neighbouring houses in Brook Terrace, Lothersdale, last Monday, January 25.
They stole an Apple Mac computer from one of the houses, but fled empty-handed from the other property, after possibly being disturbed.
Police want to trace a silver coloured vehicle which was seen in the area at the time.
The burglaries occurred early evening - probably between 5pm and 5.15pm - and, in both cases, entry was gained by forcing a rear window or door.
They are the latest in a series of burglaries that have plagued South Craven since the beginning of December.
Police are also investigating a burglary at a house in Skipton the following night.
Sgt Paul Evans, of Skipton Police, said: "We have stepped up patrols in the affected areas."
He added residents could also help in the fight against crime by setting up Neighbourhood Watch schemes and installing security measures at their homes.
Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact Skipton Police on 101.
