A 56-YEAR-OLD man is to stand trial accused of trying to cheat an 85-year-old Keighley pensioner out of £33,280 for "worthless" home repairs.
Simon Fielding, of Wardsley Farm, Leagram, Preston, was supposed to appear before Bradford Crown Court today on a video link from Preston Prison but a slot had not been booked.
He is charged with committing fraud by dishonestly making a false representation by arranging for work to be carried out at a residential property, deemed to be of no value, intending to make a gain, namely £33,280, on or about November 30 last year.
Prosecutor David McGonigal said the alleged victim was frail.
Judge Jonathan Rose agreed that special consideration would be given to him when he attends court as a witness.
The case was adjourned until May 20 when a trial date will be known.
