A COUNTDOWN has begun to the region's glittering annual tourism awards ceremony.

The White Rose Awards will be handed out at an event on Monday, October 30.

Accolades are being presented across 17 categories.

Among the finalists are Haworth's Bronte Parsonage Museum, which is in the running for the Large Attraction of the Year title, and Pennine Cycles – owned by Cullingworth couple Paul and Sandra Corcoran – which is shortlisted for the Outstanding Customer Service Award.

Around 1,000 people are expected to attend the awards ceremony, at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

The evening will include music, song and dance.

Sir Gary Verity – chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, which stages the awards – said: "This is the highlight of the year for the tourism industry in Yorkshire and the standard of finalists for 2017 is better than ever.

"We can't wait to celebrate with the crème de la crème of the industry from right across the county."

Tickets for the event are £75, plus VAT. Visit whiteroseawards.com for more details.
