WE keep hearing in the media about fake news. Does what you hear speak the truth?
In a world obsessed with freedom of speech, is it OK to state your claim to the truth?
We even hear of people who are happy to dispute the facts!
As Christians we believe God reveals the truth to us through the Bible and by his Spirit.
My son asks me, "how do you know what God wants you to do and what is right from wrong?"
I answer that God convicts your heart, asks you to do what is right rather than what you think is right.
Is it true because it is in your head or in your heart?
"Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth, give me an undivided heart" (Psalm 86).
Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life’’ ( John 14v6 ). What a profound statement!
Often the Bible asks tough questions of us. It might not be what we want to hear but we know the truth as God puts it on our hearts. Some people call it a conscience but where does that come from?
Jesus came to free us from what we did that we are not proud of. He did that by speaking the truth.
Jesus said, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’".
What a joy to be free in the truth!
