I CAN’T believe how quick January has gone!
It only feels like last week when I was writing about the New Year and here we are in February.
If the quality of films we have seen so far this year is anything to go February shouldn’t disappoint!
Our next live broadcast from the Royal Opera House in London is Tosca – with drama, passion and fabulous music, Puccini’s operatic thriller is one of the great opera experiences.
Dan Ettinger conducts a star cast led by Adrianne Pieczonka, Joseph Calleja and Gerald Finley. This will be broadcast on Wednesday February 7 at 7.15pm.
Advance tickets are available from our website.
With the last film in the trilogy released in the UK on February 9, Fifty Shades Freed (18) will have you tied to your seat!
Believing they have left behind shadowy figures from their past, newlyweds Christian (Jamie Dornan) and Ana (Dakota Johnson) fully embrace an inextricable connection and shared life of luxury.
But just as she steps into her role as Mrs Grey and he relaxes into an unfamiliar stability; new threats could jeopardize their happy ending before it even begins.
So if you’re in the mood for something a little romantic yet cheeky why not bring the other half?
Don’t worry if that’s not your thing there’s plenty more great films due for realise!
If you fancy a February fright, Winchester (15) released on Friday February 2 may be the one for you!
Based on true events, the film shows how after the sudden death of her family members, firearms heiress Sarah Winchester (Helen Mirren) becomes convinced that she’s haunted by the souls of those killed by the guns.
Sarah then decides to build an enormous and complex mansion that’s designed to keep the evil spirits at bay.
When sceptical psychiatrist Eric Price (Jason Clarke) visits the estate to evaluate her state of mind, he soon discovers that her obsession may not be so far-fetched after all.
The next instalment from Marvel is Black Panther (12a) with its UK release set for February 12.
Black Panther follows T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman.
After the events of the hit movie Captain America: Civil War he returns home to the isolated, technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King.
However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s valour as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.
Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies.
He must release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people.
I saw the trailer for this a few months ago and I must say it looks like it’s going to be great, from the trailer it looks packed full of action, humour and a great soundtrack.
But I wouldn’t expect anything less from Marvel Studios following the Avengers films and its numerous spin-offs.
We look forward to seeing you all ahead of the upcoming films!
