WITH NON-stop great films so far this year it’s been a challenge to fit them all in with just two screens, but I think were doing well!
I know there are a few films we haven’t managed to squeeze in, that I know some of you have mentioned to me.
But there’s always the possibility that Keighley Film Club could pick some of these up for their monthly screenings at the Picture House.
Remember, the Film Club screenings are open to everyone but membership does have its added benefits!
Their next film is set against the backdrop of the 1950s Cold War in Poland.
Two people of differing backgrounds and temperaments begin an almost impossible romance.
Cold War (15) will be screened on Sunday, February 17 at 5.35pm and if you’re interested in joining the ‘KFC’ you can pop down any time now we are open, for more information.
If you’re a fan of such comedy films like The Hangover and Bridesmaids then the next release from over the pond is definitely something to look out for!
Released in February 14, Instant Family (12a) sees Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne team up as Pete and Ellie, a couple who decide to start a family.
As they explore different options, they stumble into the world of foster care adoption.
They hope to take in one small child but when they meet three siblings, including a rebellious 15-year-old girl (Isabela Moner), they find themselves speeding from zero to three kids overnight.
Now, Pete and Ellie must hilariously try to learn the ropes of instant parenthood in the hopes of becoming a family.
Now for something a little more solemn , soon to come to our screens.
On The Basis Of Sex (12a) hits the big screens on February 22 and is an American biographical legal drama based on the life and early cases of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
She teams with her husband Martin to bring a ground-breaking case before the US Court of Appeals and overturn a century of gender discrimination.
With some big names such as Felicity Jones, Armie Hammer and Kathy Bates, this one should be a gripping watch.
Our next live broadcast from the Royal Opera House is the popular Ballet Don Quixote (12a).
Cervantes’s story of the bumbling knight Don Quixote has inspired countless artistic interpretations.
Marius Petipa choreographed this sparkling ballet about the encounters of the man from La Mancha and his faithful squire Sancho Panza.
At its heart are virtuoso roles for the lovers Basilio and Kitri.
Carlos Acosta chose this joyful classic for his first production for The Royal Ballet.
His vibrant staging brings together the whole company in such roles as exuberant villagers, passionate gypsies and even fantasy flowers.
The story follows Don Quixote’s picaresque journey to do deeds in honour of his imaginary noble lady, Dulcinea.
Don Quixote will be broadcast at Keighley Picture House on February 19 at 7.15pm. Prices are £15 for adults and £12 for children and concessions.
