NOW SUMMER is over, let’s see what movies are coming this autumn to the Picture House!

The Goldfinch (15), released in the UK on September 27, is an American drama film that stars Ansel Elgort as young man Thodore Decker whose troubled childhood leads him to the world of art forgery after his mother a skilled in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The tragedy changes the course of his life, sending him on a stirring odyssey of grief and guilt, reinvention and redemption, and even love.

Through it all, he holds on to one tangible piece of hope from that terrible day, a painting of a tiny bird chained to its perch.

With supporting roles from Oakes Fegley, Aneurin Barnard, Finn Wolfhard, Sarah Paulson, Luke Wilson, Jeffrey Wright and Nicole Kidman, this one is not short of talent.

The highly-anticipated Joker, which is due to hits the big screens from October 4, is definitely going to be something different!

Failed comedian Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) encounters violent thugs while wandering the streets of Gotham City dressed as a clown.

Disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow dissent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

The trailer looks great.

I know we have had several great Jokers over the years such as Heath Ledger, Cesar Romero, Jared Leto, Jack Nicolson and even Mark Hamill (animated Joker), and some of which may even be your favourite Joker,

But Joaquin Phoenix delivers a Joker for our times.

From early reviews he could even be in the running to land himself a nice shiny Oscar!

Judy (12a) is released in October 4. Thirty years after starring in The Wizard of Oz, beloved actress and singer Judy Garland arrives in London to perform sold-out shows at the Talk of the Town nightclub.

While there, she reminisces with friends and fans and begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband.

This film premièred at the Toronto Film Festival, and Renée Zellweger who plays Judy received a standing ovation for her stunning performance as one of Hollywood’s best-loved actresses.
