THE NEXT superhero film to hit the big screens isn’t from DC or Marvel but Valiant Comics.
Bloodshot (18), released on March 11, will be the first live-action film based on the comic’s characters, with more films planned for the future.
After he and his wife are murdered, marine Ray Garrison is resurrected by a team of scientists.
Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes the superhuman, biotech killing machine Bloodshot.
As Ray trains with fellow super soldiers, he cannot recall anything from his former life.
But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both him and his wife, he breaks out of the facility to get revenge, only to discover that there’s more to the conspiracy than he thought.
The film stars Vin Diesel, Eiza González and Sam Heughan.
After the success of A Quiet Place, the sequel A Quiet Place Part II (15) will be released on March 20.
After the struggle for survival in the first film, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they fight for survival in silence.
Forced to venture into the unknown, they realise that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
With once the first film such as the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role won by Emily Blunt, and the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie, I’m sure this one will be just as successful, if not better!
With some fantastic films already shown this year, next one on the list from Keighley Film Club is Harriet, the biographical film about abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
This movie tells Harriet’s story from her escape from slavery to the dangerous missions she led to liberate hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad.
You can see Harriet on Sunday March 15 at 5.35pm.
Fidelio will be broadcast from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London come on Tuesday, March 17 at 7.15pm.
This is Beethoven’s only opera, an uplifting story of risk and triumph.
In this new production Jonas Kaufmann plays the political prisoner Florestan, and Lise Davidsen his wife Leonore (disguised as ‘Fidelio’) who daringly sets out to rescue him.
Tickets cost £16 for adults and £13 for concessions and children.
Coming up at the Picture House are more special screenings: the Royal Ballet with Swan Lake (April 1), then from the Royal Opera House, Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci (April 21), The Dante Project (May 28) and Elektra (June 18).
