TODAY marks the birthday of Charlotte Bronte, one of Haworth’s legendary literary siblings.
Born in 1816, she was the third of the six Bronte children.
Her two older sisters Maria and Elizabeth died from tuberculosis by the time she was eight, leaving Charlotte suddenly the eldest child of a family of four.
Charlotte’s best-known novel, Jane Eyre, was published in 1847.
She died in the early stages of pregnancy on March 31, 1855.
Her novel The Professor was published posthumously.
Here we look at the home and some of the places around Haworth which inspired Charlotte and her sisters.
