Out of the farm and on to the roads went dozens of vintage tractors at the weekend.

They were among 90 historic vehicles taking part in the latest Brontë Tractor Run.

Tractors, wagons, jeeps and Land Rovers travelled 24 miles around Denholme, Cullingworth and Haworth. The drivers finished at the Brontë Hotel, Haworth, on Sunday lunchtime, for hot soup.

The event raised well over £2,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Three tractor runs are held each year, raising cash for the air ambulance, Haworth Riding for Disabled and Manorlands hospice.

The runs began seven years ago after Stanley Turner visited sheep dog trials with his friend, who collapsed and was taken to hospital by the air ambulance. Mr Turner wanted to pay tribute to the volunteers who acted as marshals on the route and Ian Chapman, who acted as auctioneer at the Brontë Hotel.

He also thanked sponsors, which included Colin Appleyard's, the Waggon and Horses, in Oxenhope, and Weavers restaurant, in Haworth.
