A SUMMER campaign has been launched to spotlight the district’s independent retailers and attractions.
The Sparkling Bradford initiative, which follows on from a successful Christmas programme, will encourage people to support their high streets by shopping locally and to back tourist attractions.
Retailers will be promoting special offers and showcasing their products and services using the #SparklingBradford hashtag across social media.
Those behind the venture include Bradford Council, VisitBradford and Bradford Business Improvement District.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, the council’s executive member for healthy people and places, said: “This summer we are asking people to share details of the things they can’t wait to visit and celebrate all that’s great in and around the Bradford district.
“By shopping locally and with independent retailers, we can all make a massive difference to the local economy. We can’t wait to see the district buzzing again.”
Ian Ward, chair of Bradford Business Improvement District, said: “After a difficult year, we’re delighted to see sparkle return and to celebrate all that the Bradford district has to offer.
“It’s important to support our local economy and as lockdown restrictions have eased, we want to assure people that shopping and visiting Bradford district is safe and that the businesses and people of the region are ready to welcome visitors back!”
Weekly what’s-on guides, tips, reviews and competitions will feature on the Sparkling Bradford website – at sparklingbradford.info – throughout the two-month campaign. And people can follow Sparkling Bradford on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
