COUNCILLORS were given a taste of a wellbeing walk in Keighley’s Cliffe Castle Park.

The walk was devised by Tai Chi for Health instructor Val Preston and heritage parks officer Dan Palmer – with feedback from community groups, which trialled it.

Keighley Central councillors Mohsin Hussain, Mohammed Nazam and Zafar Ali joined with Cliffe Castle Support Group members to experience the venture and hear about its development.

They were given copies of a leaflet that maps the walk and highlights how people can benefit from awareness of the surroundings and scents. The leaflet also includes a QR code which provides access to an audio guide, for anyone wishing to receive spoken commentary.

“It is hoped that the walk will also encourage people to venture into what might for some be new areas of the park,” said a spokesperson. “The walk was a very pleasant experience for everyone.”

Councillor Hussain commented that he was impressed the leaflet was available in Urdu and Bengali, as well as English.
