THE final race in the 4 race Aquasphere Epic Lakes Open Water Swim series took place at Windermere on Saturday 18 September.
Keighley duo, Sam Akers and Gabriel Medd, both competed in the competition and the results were as follows: 1 mile (262 entries)- Sam Akers: 7th overall (5th male of 111) in 20:42
Gabriel Medd: 9th overall (6th male of 111) in 20:50
500m 91 entries Sam Akers 2nd overall (2nd male) in 6.04
The previous week, September 11 in Doncaster at The Blue Lagoon, Medd swam in the Evolve Endurance event . He set a new personal best of 1 hour 13 mins 0 seconds in the 5 km event and finished second in his age group.
