A Guide Guider from Riddlesden is heading to Japan.

Vicki Healey is among 18 Guiders from across the country taking part in a cultural exchange.

They will travel to Japan at the end of this month and stay there until mid February.

Vicki - who is with the 2nd Riddlesden Guides - will participate in home stays with Japanese families who have children or adults involved in the country's Girl Scout movement.

She said: "The programme's aim is to enable Japanese and British girls and young women to develop their fullest potential, growing as leaders of their community to make a better world.

"It will help us to experience their way of life, culture and customs and will lead to a deeper understanding of their traditions and values."

Vicki is holding a coffee morning on January 26 to raise funds for the trip. The event is at the United Reformed Church, Bar Lane, Riddlesden, from 10-11.30am.
