A NEW campaign has been launched to showcase what's on offer across the district this winter.
The Sparkling Bradford initiative will spotlight events, activities and entertainment to help people plan days out and trips.
It aims to boost the visitor economy – which has been badly hit during the pandemic – and highlight attractions that tourists and the district's residents can enjoy.
Behind the venture are organisations including VisitBradford, Bradford Council and Business Improvement Districts.
Sparkling Bradford was first staged in 2018, and the marketing campaigns have been hailed as a huge success – giving a lift to businesses and attractions.
The latest drive was launched to coincide with the switching-on of Bradford's Christmas lights.
Patricia Tillotson, visitor and business development manager at VisitBradford, said: "Sparkling Bradford showcases everything that the district has to offer to both local residents and visitors – there is so much to embrace and enjoy whilst supporting the local economy. Winter brings a host of seasonal events."
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places, said: "The pandemic presented huge challenges for businesses across many sectors in the district so it's great to see the return of live entertainment and events.
"The Sparkling Bradford campaign aims to support businesses throughout the winter, as families and local communities enjoy the season."
Ian Ward, of The Broadway in Bradford, said: "This is the seventh campaign for Sparkling Bradford, which has consistently boosted footfall across the district through its summer and winter attractions and events."
Attractions highlighted as part of the latest initiative include the return of Christmas events in Haworth, where the usual popular festive programme was scuppered last year due to the pandemic.
Activities kick-off with the Light-Up Haworth Weekend, on Saturday and Sunday November 27-28.
It will be followed by the famous Torchlight Weekend, on December 4-5, and then seasonal music – including much-loved brass band performances – on December 11-12.
The ever-popular Nativity Weekend takes place on December 18 and 19.
Other attractions will include special train services on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, which is running its Elf Express and Mulled Wine Specials.
