Tribute has been paid to a "wonderful" woman who died in a car crash, in America.

Keighley-born Ann Hopp was killed when her Mini Cooper was involved in a collision near her Florida home last Friday.

Mrs Hopp (nee Moffatt), who was 64, grew up in Keighley. She lived locally until emigrating when she was 19.

She had been married for 30 years to her second husband George, and the couple lived in the Lakewood Ranch area of Bradenton.

Her sister Susan Enright, of Thwaites, told us: "Ann was a wonderful person with a big personality and a really good sense of humour.

"She lived life to the full and was loved by everyone who met her.

"George described her as the love of his life and they were just a perfect couple.

"I thank him for making her so happy.

"I last saw Ann in June last year when we had a great time together in Cornwall, and she was planning to come over again next month. We were always very close."

A funeral service was held in the States yesterday, and it is hoped to have a mass in her honour at St Anne's Church in Keighley.

Ann - one of five children to the late Tommy and Irene Moffatt - was educated at St Joseph's Primary School, Ingrow, and the former Keighley Girls' Grammar School.

When she was 19 she married Bernard Johnson at St Joseph's Church and the couple emigrated to Canada.

They had two children, Samantha and Simon.

Ann was divorced and moved to America, where she met and married George.

He has a daughter, Lisa, to an earlier marriage.

Ann is survived by George, her children - who live in California - Susan, other sister Judith and brothers John and David.
