A KEIGHLEY road was blocked for several hours today after an articulated lorry got stuck.
The HGV was trying to negotiate steep, winding Thwaites Brow Road – known as The Twines – between Thwaites and Long Lee.
Local resident John Lawless, who helped out at the scene, says such incidents happen regularly.
He claims that signage, warning the road is unsuitable for HGVs, is inadequate.
"The large lorry managed to get wedged on the first bend," said Mr Lawless.
"I spoke to the German driver who said he didn't see the 'no HGVs' sign and followed his sat nav.
"Over the past few years, Long Lee and Parkwood councillors have repeatedly asked for improved signage.
"Police attended. The response from them was brilliant."
The road is now open again.
