MORE electric vehicle charge points are being installed across the district.
Bradford Council is providing 38 fast-charge facilities, mostly in residential areas.
Sites included in the first phase of the programme include Gas Street car park in Haworth; Mill Lane lay-by at Steeton; Wesley Place car park, Silsden, and Wilsden Royd House car park, Main Street, Wilsden.
Over £300,000 to help fund the initiative has been received from the Government's on-street residential charge point scheme. The grant covers 75 per cent of the costs. The remainder will be covered with funding from the council's community infrastructure levy.
Bradford Council is working with EB Charging Ltd to deliver the scheme, plus other charge points for the district – including one at the newly-refurbished car park at Oakworth Crematorium.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, the council's portfolio holder for healthy people and places, said: "This is a welcome investment in our district’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure. It will give more people access to charge points within walking distance of their homes.
"Hopefully, this will encourage more people to consider switching to electric vehicles.
"West Yorkshire already leads the way, with the UK's biggest rapid charging network outside of London."
