A Keighley car dealership has been honoured for its high standard of customer care.

Colin Appleyard Cars, in South Street, has received the West Yorkshire Trading Standards Motor Trade Partnership "Excellent Customer Service" award.

It is the second time the Suzuki dealer has picked up the accolade, which recognises its commitment to its customers.

On two previous occasions the firm has gone 12 months without a single justifiable customer complaint.

The Motor Trade Partnership was set up seven years ago by West Yorkshire Trading Standards to protect customers.

It requires participating firms to be independently and regularly audited to ensure they can demonstrate fair, safe and honest trading practices.

Keighley East district councillor Malcolm Slater, who chairs the county's trading standards committee, said: "Consumers in West Yorkshire deserve the best standard of customer care and the Motor Trade Partnership members aim to provide just that. The scheme promotes good practice in the motor trade and helps to provide the tools that members need to deliver this.

"By choosing a member of the partnership, car buyers and owners know the garage has a recognised complaints procedure and that they are familiar with a consumer's statutory rights."
