Beryl Frith has been named as one of the country's most caring people in an award to honour those who look after loved ones.

The 82-year-old retired insurance agent from Cross Hills was nominated by her husband, Leslie.

Beryl, who worked for the Wesleyan insurance group in Bradford, provides around the clock care for Leslie, who suffered a stroke six years ago.

So as a reward, energy company E.ON presented her with £300 in Marks & Spencer vouchers.

And she immediately went out and bought Leslie some new togs - a waterproof jacket and trousers.

She said: "I look after Leslie because he is my husband and I love him and to have won this award for doing so is just amazing."

The couple were married 62 years ago in Keighley and Leslie was a travel company director before retiring.
