South Craven residents are urged to share their thoughts on the future of quarrying and waste management in the county.

The move ties in with the release of a new framework by North Yorkshire County Council's mineral and waste planning office.

Issues include new sites for possible future development and strategic policies.

"These are extremely important issues, and I would hope as many people as possible take advantage of this consultation period to examine what we have proposed and to make their views known," said county councillor John Fort, executive member for business and environmental services.

The public will have until the end of next month to have its say.

Copies of the documents are available from County Hall at Northallerton, from libraries, district council offices and online at http://www.northyorks.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=5794, under the active public consultation heading.
