Two nurses from Brontë Park nursing home, at Haworth, have paid tribute to their former residents.

Pictured are Laurie Sloan, 67, from Silsden, and Carol Farley, 50, from Keighley, who are departing from Brontë Park after seven years of commitment to caring for residents there, many of whom suffer from dementia.

Mr Sloan has decided to retire after half a century of employment in the service.

He described his patients at Brontë Park as all "good characters".

He said: "I have decided to call it a day after 50 years of working as a nurse.

"It has been an excellent career, very worthwhile. It is a very rewarding job and I am sad to be leaving.

"We just wanted to say thank you to all the people we have come into contact with.

"I have enjoyed my time at Brontë Park, it has been excellent, really nice - there have been a lot of good characters, some stick out in your mind more than others."

Mr Sloan plans to enjoy his retirement relaxing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ms Farley, meanwhile, has moved on to nurse in a different location.

The pair also thanked their professional colleagues and doctors from health centres in Haworth and Keighley, for their support and advice in caring for the residents over the years of their service.

Mr Sloan said: "Our thanks to the many relatives and friends of residents at Brontë Park, both past and present, who made our job worthwhile."
