ROBBIE Moore invited yet another minister to Keighley for one of his photoshoots. This time it was Liz Truss, the minister for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. Early on in the Ukraine war Liz Truss encouraged people in Britain to go to Ukraine war zones and volunteer with the Ukraine Army. It has been a crime since 1870 to encourage recruitment to a foreign army in a war for which we are not directly involved.

In a previous letter to me, Robbie Moore has referred to working with his "esteemed minister colleagues" but I scarcely remember seeing his practical collaboration with local people in finding solutions to our problems and struggles. I have only seen him toe the party line. I have never seen him stand by his own ideas or solutions from the hard working Brits, with one exception – to his credit he has stood by his intention to split us from Bradford Council to get our own authority.

With regards to the Towns Fund, in my view that is London money with strings attached, and not directed by local democratic and accountable means.

Again, Mr Moore is unembarrassed and proud to invite a Tory minister to Keighley. I feel it is a shame that he and his "esteemed minister colleagues" neglect our town's real issues, with damaging policies and just saying the right thing.

If Robbie really was an MP of the people, he would invite discussions with the public so that we can find our own solutions, not ones imposed via Bradford or London.

I would like to see Keighley, the Worth Valley, Ilkley and Craven areas stand together promoting our own culture and heritage independently from Bradford's conflicting priorities.

Leo Robinson, Keighley
