JUBILANT Wilsden neighbours are celebrating a lottery windfall.

Seven residents are sharing a £210,000 pot after their BD15 0LN postcode was a winner in the People's Postcode Lottery.

Grandad Glyn Walters, 77, and his wife of 55 years – Kath – are planning to spend their £30,000 on a special reunion.

"I want to go and see my brother’s family in the West Indies," said Glyn, a retired forklift truck driver.

"My brother and his wife have passed away but we’d like to go and see where they were in the West Indies. They had six children and we’ve not seen them for more than 50 years.

"We couldn’t have gone without this, but thanks to Postcode Lottery we can do it now.

"I’m just over the moon."

Another winner, 24-year-old primary school teacher Alisha Smith, said she was shocked when told of the win.

"You never think anything big like this will happen down a little lane in Wilsden!" she said.

Alisha and her husband Luke were married in December and are now planning a belated honeymoon.

"I’d love to go to the Maldives," she said. "We’ve been putting all our money into the house so this places us in a really good position now."

Grandmother-of-five Lillian Knight, 81, who has lived in the postcode area for 59 years, said: "I feel as though I’m on air at the moment. I don’t know when I’ll come back down to earth! I never win anything, so it’s a very big surprise."

Another winner is 65-year-old Peter Abberton.

The retired physics and maths teacher, who has been married to wife Katherine for 32 years, says they'll probably celebrate with a meal from their local curry house!

The couple also plan to travel to the USA and visit Katherine’s home town in Pennsylvania.

The other winners chose to remain anonymous.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson said: "I’ve had a lot of fun in Wilsden knocking on doors, ringing bells and surprising our winners with big cheques. It was a pleasure to meet Lillian, Glyn, Alisha and Peter and hear about their big plans for their winnings!"

The People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play.

Since it was launched, players have helped raise over £900 million for good causes across Britain and internationally.

The latest draw was promoted on behalf of the Postcode Education Trust.
