Residents at a care home in Keighley have been feeling the beat of the African drum.

Art students from Hawkstone House Care Home, in Shann Lane, had some fun creating a funky percussion rhythm at Cliffe Castle Museum, in Keighley.

The art group, led by Ruth Wightman, usually meets on a weekly basis at the museum to work on crafts and designs, but last week they had a special guest percussionist to teach them how to find their inner rhythm.

Anna Green, from Quest Drumming, ran the session and said the exercise encouraged everybody to join in together.

She said: "Everybody has a sense of rhythm, no matter what you are told when you are young.

"Playing the drums is invigorating, it builds a sense of confidence and it is fun. Everybody is enjoying it."

The Hawkstone group of people with learning disabilities meets at Cliff Castle on Fridays, from 10.30am.
