A 24-year-old man spent two nights in a police cell after being arrested for breaching his bail conditions.
Michael Dwyer, of Simpson Street, Keighley, failed to sign on at Keighley police station between noon and 2pm on Saturday and was arrested.
At Bingley Court on Monday Elizabeth Wright, prosecuting, said Dwyer was on conditional bail accused of three thefts and had been warned in the past about turning up late to answer one of his bail conditions.
When he arrived late on Saturday, police arrested him and kept him in the cells.
Magistrates agreed with her opinion that two nights in prison was sufficient punishment.
He was remanded on conditional bail to Burnley magistrates' court.
